On a historic night which saw the first live coverage of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, Patrick Poirier took over the chip lead with nearly 1.1 million.

Not only the ESPN2 provide landmark live coverage, but Poirier became the first player ever to hit one million chips prior to Day 4 of the competition at the Rio. Daryl Jace is second with 995,000 chips and Guillaume Darcort is third at 951,500.

With the elimination of Huck Seed, only three former Main Event champs remain in the competition. They are Phil Hellmuth, Berry Johnston and Robert Varkonyi.

As for the live coverage there were positives and negatives depending on your viewpoint.

Normally in ESPN coverage, viewers can see the players cards and watch the hands unfold. However, with the live coverage cameras were prevented from showing the first two cards dealt.

When interviewed on ESPN, former WSOP champ Jamie Gold said he was against the decision not to show the first two cards.

Also the live coverage on ESPN2 was delayed 46 minutes following the dinner break due to a WNBA game that ran late.

Three tables still remained in the Pavilion Room before everyone left in the field will compete in the Amazon Room.

And 13 levels were needed for players to run their stack from 30,000 to more than a million.

Here is the rundown of the top 10 chip leaders.

Patrick Poirier – 1,065,800
