The US State of Illinois has opened its 10th casino amid a large push for revenue through gambling promotion in the region.Although gambling revenues have naturally dropped along with the rest of the economy, Illinois is positive that the latest casino will help to provide vital public funds.The Rivers Casino in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines is a 44,000 sq ft casino with 1,050 slot machines and 48 table games.Long time Chicago developer Neil Bluhm, the chairman of Midwest Gaming, said of the new casino: “It really is like going to Las Vegas.”The first day proved to be a success for The Rivers Casino, with locals flooding in from the surrounding area to take a look at the opulent interior and try their hands at some games.Over in Ohio, governor John Kasich has approved plans to make the planned Kansas Star Casino bigger than had been originally proposed.
